WILMINGTON -- The air smelled of spices and slow cooked chili Saturday at Hugh Mcrae Park.
The 20th annual Bud Lite Chili Cook Off brought gallons and gallons of homemade chili, each competing for first prize.
There were 11 competitors, some local businesses, others just people with a secret recipe.
The winner of the tastiest chili went to Elijah's Restaurant.
Event planners say it's not really about the chili but helping out the community.
All of the money raised goes directly to the New Hanover County Domestic Violence Shelter.
