Deer on the Run Cause Truck Accident

NEW HANOVER COUNTY -- A couple of deer caused a traffic accident early Monday morning.

A truck driver was driving along I-140 West, heading toward Castle Hayne, just before 5 a.m. Monday, when two deer ran in front of him, officials said.

The driver swerved and ran the truck into a ditch.

Neither the deer nor the driver were hurt.

The fall typically brings more deer near the roads as they search for food and mates. Deer hunting season in eastern North Carolina went in full swing this weekend.
