DUPLIN COUNTY -- Residents will get relief from the flood damage caused by Tropical Storm Ernesto.
Governor Mike Easley (D-NC) declared a state of disaster for the county.
Businesses and private non-profit organizations were offered loans at low interest rates for repairs after the storm flooded the region. Individual disaster loans were also available for those who needed to make repairs to their homes.
The state of emergency will bring aid to those having a hard time to pay back those loans.
"This gives us the opportunity to step in and help those flood victims who co-operated with everything we asked them to do," said Easley, "but they just had some bad luck."
Flood victims will be given up to $25,000 to fix the damage.
