WILMINGTON -- Two professors at Cape Fear Community College were arrested Wednesday for "going over 55," but they were not handcuffed for long.
Wilmington Police Chief Ralph Evangelous slapped his cuffs on organizers for CFCC's annual fundraiser.
Staff and faculty raised more than $55,000 in the last two weeks -- hence, they were "over 55."
Evangelous said it was a pleasure to break out his cuffs for this worthy cause.
The money raised will go to student scholarships, grants, and new classroom equipment.
