Trial of Former City Council Candidate Begins

WILMINGTON -- Pre-trial motion began on Monday for a trial for a former Wilmington City Council candidate.

Kent Chatfield is charged with going armed to the terror of the public.

Charfield was arrested in 2005 for refusing to leave his home after being evicted, detectives said.

He had a brief stand-off with the police at his Market Street home.

Chatfield is also charged with intimidating a witness, possession of a firearm by a felon, and breaking-and-entering.

Jury selection is set on Tuesday.
