Police Chief Pushes for Curfew at Freeman Park

CAROLINA BEACH -- Police Chief William Younginer is pushing for a curfew at Freeman Park, after he said a teenage girl was raped there earlier this month.

Timothy Brown, 24, of Leland, is charged with second degree rape, after police say he assaulted of a 15-year-old girl at Freeman Park.

Friends of the girl said the girl was drinking alcohol when they saw her having sex with Brown in the dunes, Younginer said.

The girl's friends called 911 when she became unconscious.

There had not been a similar incident at Freeman Park in the past few years. Younginer said a curfew for kids would help prevent future attacks.

Brown is out of jail on a $75,000 bond. He is scheduled to be back in court on Thursday.
