Locals Compete in Spelling Bee

WILMINGTON -- It was all about the ABC's, but only one group proved to the be champions of spelling.

Nineteen teams competed in the Cape Fear Literacy Council's annual Spelling Bee for Literacy, hosted by WECT's Frances Weller.

The spellers dressed in costumes not only vied for the spelling contest, but for the costumes and cheering competitions as well.

Friends of the New Hanover County Public Library walked away with the best spellers honor, while the UNCW swim team won best cheering.
