NEW HANOVER COUNTY -- Jasmine Cove, formerly known as the Meadows, is still in operation, though county commissioners said it should not be.
After almost eight months and more than 80 visits by the Department of Social Services, commisioners said the same deficiencies kept occuring.
Some of the problems included improper administration of medication, not meeting special dietary needs, and even a roach problem.
DSS and the board of commissioners said the state needed to take some action against Jasmine Cove.
"Come down on them, and quit this waiver here and waiver there," said County Commissioner Bill Caster. "I hope that they are fixing things up, but we're just not convinced of that yet."
Jasmine Cove officials said that they had made a lot of changes, and that DSS had never informed them there were still problems.
