As a sheriff's deputy recovers, the man accused of trying to run him down is being held on a $250,000 bond.
George Miller appeared in court Thursday morning to face charges of running from police as well as assault with a dangerous weapon against a government official.
Miller is believed to be behind a frenzy of activity that took place Wednesday night.
Authorities say Miller hit a car on Carolina Beach Road and left. When a deputy later tried to approach Miller's car they say Miller stepped on the gas and hit him.
Miller was eventually arrested. Police believe he may have been under the influence of both drugs and alcohol.
The deputy is expected to make a full recovery.
