NEW HANOVER COUNTY -- Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Ocean Isle Beach will be renourished as planned this fall during the dredging season. Congressman Mike McIntyre made the announcement Friday.
"This is fantastic news for these three coastal communities. Federal funds, combined with state and local matches, will allow Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Ocean Isle Beach to receive the sand they need to protect our precious shoreline. I thank the local communities, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Senator Dole, and Senator Burr for working with us on these important projects. Indeed, this is a great step forward for the environmental and economic treasure that is our coastline," said McIntyre in a press release Friday.
Norfolk Dredging Company of Norfolk, Virginia will perform the three beach nourishment projects.
