JUNE 28, 2006 -- Save those old pictures and make sure they're labeled. That's a lesson being learned in Whiteville.
Local historians have been given access to albums that contain thousands of long hidden photos taken 90 years ago. The photos were taken by the late Mabel Prevatte, Whiteville resident and amateur photographer. They are among the first photos taken of the city.
Local historians say the albums provide an invaluable look into the past.
"You wish more people had done this and it makes you wonder what kind of treasures are out there now hidden out there in boxes in attics, unseen for 80, 90 years," says Fuller Royal of The News Reporter.
