JUNE 28, 2006 -- Sherman Criner, the man challenging Julia Boseman for her seat in the state Senate, faced allegations of child molestation.
For three months, authorities investigated a report that Sherman Criner had molested a 6-year-old girl at Thalian Hall earlier this year.
Buddy Allard, Criner's attorney, announced Wednesday that state prosecutors will not file charges against the Wilmington lawyer.
Allard says Criner is relieved he won't be prosecuted and feels that short of this never happening at all, this was the best result for the candidate and his family.
Criner will now turn his attention to his run for the Senate against incumbent Julia Boseman.
