JUNE 15, 2006 -- An organization dedicated to helping dogs is giving a state senator a paw on the back.
Senator Julia Boseman was honored by the Carolina Canines Organization. The Democrat from Wilmington was saluted for being a friend of pets during her first term in Raleigh, as well as for her contributions to the organization.
Carolina Canines places service dogs with people who need assistance.
After Hurricane Katrina, the facility also opened its doors to dogs and cats separated from their owners. Carolina Canines was able to reunite almost all of the Katrina pets with their owners. The others have found new families in our area.
