Police Suspect Tainted Heroin to Blame for Death

JUNE 14, 2006 -- One man is dead and police believe there may be tainted heroin on the streets of Wilmington.

Police found the man's body inside a storage unit at Martin Self Storage on South Kerr Avenue around 5:30p.m. Wednesday.

Authorities are still trying confirm the man's identity and contact his family. They say he is in his late 20's or early 30's. They believe he died after using heroin.

This is the second heroin-related death in Wilmington in the past week.

Last Thursday Robert Croom, 23, was found dead behind a dumpster. Investigators believe he too died after using heroin.

Authorities across the country believe tainted heroin is to blame for an increase in the number of drug-related deaths.
