City of Wilmington Asks Judge to Drop Moore Lawsuit
JUNE 14, 2006 -- The City of Wilmington is asking a judge to dismiss the latest lawsuit filed by former City Councilwoman Katherine Moore.
The lawsuit asks for a million dollars in damages, alleging wrongdoing by the city's civil service commission. Moore says the commission violated her rights as it dealt with two police officers who had her arrested for driving while impaired. That charge was later dropped.
Lawyers for the city contend Moore offered no evidence to support her claim that her rights were abused.
This is the second lawsuit filed by Moore against the city.
There is no indication when a judge will rule on the city's motion for dismissal.
