Local Restaurant Cooks Up Plan to Help Katrina Victims

JUNE 14, 2006 -- While residents here are preparing for this year's hurricane season, the Gulf Coast is still recovering from last year's devastating Hurricane Katrina. To help them, local restaurant employees will trade in their cooking gear for hammers and drills.

Twelve North Carolina Texas Roadhouse restaurants, including the one in Wilmington, are teaming up with Habitat for Humanity and other local agencies to build a new home for Katrina victims. That home will be shipped to New Orleans.

The building starts next month in the lot across the street from the Wilmington restaurant. If you are interested in helping, contact Shelley Ferrell at 798-1770.
