Algae Growing in Carolina Beach Lake

JUNE 13, 2006 -- Carolina Beach is beginning to see an unwelcome hot weather guest. Algae is forming in Carolina Beach Lake.

Blooms in the lake have become common in recent years.

Devices have been used to clear much of the water in the past, but right now the town is waiting for that equipment to be fixed.

The town hopes to have the motors running for the devices in the next two weeks so the algae can be eliminated.
