Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Bust in Columbus County

JUNE 12, 2006 -- A traffic stop near Whiteville resulted in a $20,000 drug bust.

Columbus County Sheriff's Deputies pulled over Thomas Crossland on Highway 74/76 last week. They say he admitted to driving without a license.

When officers searched his car they say they found a bag of 550 pills of ecstasy in the backseat. Authorities estimate the drugs to be worth about $20,000.

Crossland is now facing drug trafficking charges.
