Man Accused of Murder Says He Shot the Wrong Person

JUNE 5, 2006 -- A man accused of killing another man after an argument in Tabor City says he shot the wrong person.

The Whiteville News Reporter says Levern Kelly shot James Dixon the night of June 1st. The two were playing cards inside Kelly's home with a third person when an argument started.

Deputies say Kelly fired a rifle from his porch and hit Dixon in the head.

Kelly told Authorities he didn't mean to hit Dixon, he was shooting at the other man.

Kelly has been charged with second-degree murder.
