Area Schools Get Thousands of Dollars from Progress Energy

MAY 31, 2006 -- Some local schools are receiving a big check from a Wilmington company.  Progress Energy presented a check for $40,000 to the Greater Wilmington Chamber Foundation.  The money is split between New Hanover and Pender County schools.

Part of that money will go to students at Gregory Elementary.  Wednesday, students there showed off a garden they made with the money donated from Progress Energy last year.

A portion of the money will also go to teachers who want to get their masters or teaching certification.
