MAY 25, 2006 -- As North Carolina lawmakers consider toughening sex offender laws, local law enforcement officers can't find nine of them registered in the Wilmington area. They've apparently moved away without telling the sheriff's office where they're going.
As registered sex offenders, they are required to check in with the sheriff's office to inform them of a move. They haven't done that. Local police are asking to keep an eye out for these people.
If you see the missing sex offenders, the sheriff's office is asking you to call 362-3918.
