Three People Stabbed in Downtown Wilmington

May 11, 2006 -- A teenager is in custody after three men are stabbed in downtown Wilmington. Sixteen-year-old Rasaun Battle of Wilmington is in jail, and is charged with the stabbings.

Detectives say a fight involving more than twenty people broke out around 1 a.m. Thursday morning outside the Soapbox on Front Street.  Detectives say 26-year-old Desmond Davis, 27-year-old Antonio Green and 25-year-old Timothy Bryant were stabbed.  Their injuries are not life threatening.

Detectives say the fight started in the soap box as they were holding a showcase for hip hop singers.  The Soapbox's Manager, Jennifer Culkin says, "We've been holding this event for over 2 years on a regular Wednesday night basis, and we've yet to have an incident of even a minor altercation. This Wednesday happened to be extra croweded, well attended and there happened to be a few bad seeds that made the rest of the group look bad."

Detectives don't know what triggered the fight.
