MAY 5, 2006 -- Getting around part of downtown Wilmington is getting a little easier. After nearly a year of construction, the bridge along North 5th Street is ready for cars.
Friday morning, the ribbon was officially cut on the new bridge. It spans the old railroad tracks in the north part of town. It's named after the late Thelma Bull who was a long time community activist. Her son says his mother would have been humbled by the experience.
Bull's son traveled from Baltimore for the ceremoney. Among other things, Thelma Bull was a precinct captain for the Democratic party.
