Southern Restaurant in Wilmington Ready to Shut Doors

MAY 3, 2006 -- Southern cooking was the specialty at a popular restaurant in downtown Wilmington.  Now, people are taking home pieces of the restaurant as it gets ready to shut its doors.

The owner of Taste of Country on Front Street held an auction Wednesday morning. Restaurant equipment and mementos were sold to the highest bidders. That included some of the plates that served up fried chicken, macaroni and cheese and black eyed peas.

The restaurant has been serving up delicious southern food for 14 years. The owner says he'll be moved out by Friday.
