Students Shadow Parents at Work

APRIL 27, 2006 -- At some point, kids are usually asked what they want to be when they grow up.  Many of them follow in their parents footsteps, even if just for a day.

Thursday was "Take Your Kids to Work Day."  Several children spent the morning at New Hanover Regional Medical Center shadowing the professionals.  They learned about how the body works and even where babies come from.

Hospital employees hope this is not only a learning experience for kids but gives them ideas about future careers as well.

And it wasn't just a day off from school for the kids. Many of them have to prepare a report for class.
