Brunswick Bible Plan Opens Door to Other Faiths

APRIL 27, 2006 -- The Brunswick County plan to bring Bibles into schools is also opening the door to other religious faiths.  The school board has begun receiving letters from religious groups besides the Gideons who are interested in offering literature within the schools.

Those groups include the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Wilmington, the Jehovah's Witnesses, and an area Buddhist.

Those who voted for the Bibles in school say they're not swayed by the possibility of opening it up to other religious groups.  The material distribution plan will undergo a second reading at next week's school board meeting.
