APRIL 27, 2006 -- In and out of the classroom, mentors play an invaluable role in the lives of children. A state-run initiative is helping to train some of these mentors to better relate to kids.
A mentor training workshop was held at Brunswick Community College Thursday. Participants learned different exercises that can be employed in the classroom to help students learn and keep their brains active.
The workshops are being conducted by the North Carolina Mentoring Partnership, which works with not just schools but state-wide volunteer organizations.
