Search Suspended for Boy Swept Out to Sea

APRIL 16, 2004 -- The search has been suspended for a 13-year-old boy pulled out to sea on Saturday evening in Myrtle Beach. Authorities say it's highly unlikely the boy is alive.

Primtvio Ledesma and his 11-year-old brother were swimming in the area near the Myrtle Beach Pavilion beach access, when witnesses say they were caught in a rip current.

Some people on the beach were able to reach the boys but couldn't hold onto Primtvio.

The water temperature was 64 degrees. Coast Guard officials say people can normally survive up to nine hours in water that temperature.

The two boys were from Sanford, North Carolina.
