Rising Gas Prices Affect Holiday Weekend Travel

APRIL, 15, 2006 -- Warm weather, big waves, and clear skies provide the formula for the perfect Easter vacation. However, the gas price hike has vacationers concerned.

Prices ranging from $2.85, $2.95, and $3.05 a gallon are common around the state.

A new survey by AAA Carolinas shows gas is up more than 65 cents a gallon from last Easter. It's not stopping tourists from traveling, but it is a rude awakening for drivers.

The energy department says gas prices should level off around May, just in time for your summer vacation.
