Consider This: Hands on Wilmington

APRIL 5, 2006 -- Isn't there something inspiring about the idea of changing the world? If not the world, how about our own community? Nice idea, but who has the time, right? Well, if you're free Saturday morning, April 22, you truly can make a difference.

Maybe you've heard about Hands on Wilmington. It's an exciting new effort based on the belief that many people working together for just four hours can accomplish amazing things. This first year, Hands on Wilmington will build a basketball court at the Yahweh Center, paint and landscape for a number of non-profit organizations such as the YWCA, the Salvation Army and the Cape Fear Literacy Council, repair a home for an elderly owner; and plant a bird habitat garden at Hugh MacRae Park. And that's just a few of the many scheduled projects.

I'd like to invite you to come out and help. You can sign up at www.handsonwilmington.org. I'll be there. Because I like the idea of knowing it really is possible to make our world a better place. That's what we think. Tell us what you think.
