Lightning Causes Large Fire in Little River

APRIL 4, 2006 -- The severe weather may have been to blame for a fire that roared through a well known business in Little River, South Carolina.

Authorities say the fire destroyed about 50% of the Little River Flea Market on US 17.

The highway was shut down in both directions Monday night.

About 100 firefighters were on the scene helping to extinguish the fire. They came from as far away as Calabash in Brunswick County.

The fire started just after a lightning storm moved through the area. No one was injured.
