City Employees Replacing Old Water Meters

MARCH 31, 2006 -- Wilmington city employees have started a year long project to replace old water meters.

Wilmington officials realized current water meters were giving inaccurate readings. They are now working to replace more than 2,000 water meters.

They are also installing 6,000 electronic meters that will allow meter readings to be taken from an employee's car.

Officials say this will be a trial period for the electronic meters.
