Maness Found Guilty of First Degree Murder

MARCH 31, 2006 -- Just after 2:00 Friday, a jury returned with a verdict in the Darrell Maness murder trial.  They found Maness guilty of first degree murder in the death of Boiling Spring Lakes Police Officer Mitch Prince.

There were 11 different counts against Maness.  The jury found him guilty on eight of those counts.  They found him not guilty on the count of attempted murder against Officer David Phelps.

The sentencing hearing will begin Monday and is expected to last a few days.
