Driver of Stolen Vehicle Crashes in Downtown Wilmington

MARCH 30, 2006 -- The driver of a stolen Jeep tried to make a fast get-away in Wilmington Thursday evening. The result was a major wreck downtown.

It happened just after 4:00 p.m. in the area of 7th and Red Cross Streets.  Police say a white Jeep was stolen, and when they tried to pull it over, the driver sped away.  Several blocks later the Jeep lost control, flipped several times and threw three people from inside.  It struck several vehicles in the intersection but no one else was hurt.  There's no word on the condition of the people thrown from the Jeep.
