MARCH 30, 2006 -- Julia Boseman is responding to the investigation into a local Republican state senate candidate accused of sex crimes with a child.
State investigators are looking into a report that Sherman Criner molested a six-year-old girl at Thalian Hall several weeks ago.
Sherman Criner is challenging Democratic incumbent Julia Boseman in this year's elections. We've received response of support from folks in the Republican party. Now, his opponent is speaking out.
"I think this is a matter between law enforcement and the families. I pray that what they say is not true, and if it is true then I pray the child and family are going to be okay. This is really just between the families and the law enforcement," says Boseman.
We contacted Criner Thursday morning. He refused to comment on the allegations.
