MARCH 23, 2006 -- More than half a dozen homes in North Topsail Beach are going to be removed from the oceanfront. The seven homes are condemned.
The Topsail Voice reports at a meeting earlier this week, the town alderman voted to begin the process of having the homes removed. The owners originally had 90 days to either repair or remove the homes. When nothing was done the town took matters into its own hands, saying the structures were dangerous.
The board has hired an appraiser to decide how to compensate the owners.
