MARCH 18, 2006 -- Hundreds of bikers rode through Wilmington streets to support local police officers and firefighters injured or killed in the line of duty.
The "Officer Down" ride finished in the City Hall parking lot as bikers came out in large numbers to support the cause.
Members of local law enforcement as well as local biking chapters were on hand to participate.
The idea began as a way to support officers like Sergeant Mike Fey of the Wilmington Police Department. Fey was shot in July and although his recovery continues, he is thrilled to see the amount of support from the community.
Organizers hope the idea catches on with motorcycle enthusiasts across the country and even the globe.
