Historic Items Donated to Cape Fear Museum

MARCH 10, 2006 -- Wilmington's Cape Fear Museum received loads of historical artificats Friday dating back to the early 1900s.

The Cape Fear chapter of the American Red Cross donated boxes of historical items found in the attic. The artificats range from uniforms to first aid kits. Some are from as early as 1908 when the chapter was founded.

The gear won't be on display just yet however. Curators say it will still take a couple years until the museum can turn it into an exhibit.

"It's gonna take a while to sort out and organize, and see what they have, see what objects will need aditional research, figure out what they are, or who used them," says Barbra Rowe.

The exhibit will open in January of 2008, honoring the 100th birthday of the local American Red Cross chapter.
