Renourishment on Wrightsville Beach

MARCH 10, 2006 -- Crews are now working to clean up the appearance of Wrightsville Beach. Sand is not being pumped just yet, but the first signs of renourishment are in place.

The Army Corps of Engineers awarded the contract to the Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company, which has begun its work. The company has placed its barge and workers are laying the pipes to begin pumping sand.

Dredging will take place in Masonboro Inlet and Banks Channel. The project is expected to be finished by April 30.
