MARCH 9, 2006 -- What better way to get your brain waves going than with an early morning walk? That's how the students at Parsley Elementary School in Wilmington get their mornings started.
It's all a part of their new walking program on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. For every lap they walk or run, they pick up a stick. The 3rd through 5th graders average 4,100 sticks a morning. That's 183 miles.
The program is organized by members of the PTA who say studies show a brisk walk makes for a better day.
