$14 Million Bond Set for May Ballot

MARCH 6, 2006 -- It's now up to voters to decide what to do with the streets and sidewalks bond issue in Wilmington.

The city council voted Monday to send the $14 million request to voters on May 2.

The money will go to five projects, including widening a section of Independence Boulevard from two lanes to four. North 3rd Street will also get some improvements, and sidewalks and street lights will be built or repaired around the city.

If voters say yes, the bond issue will also pay for more sidewalks near schools and religious buildings.
