Authorities Find Drugs During Traffic Stop

FEBRUARY 17, 2006 -- Police officers made a drug bust Saturday night during a traffic stop.

Just before midnight, a Northwest Police Officer stopped a driver on Highway 74/76 for running a red light. During the stop the officer's dog found two pounds of marijuana in the trunk of the car. The marijuana is valued at more than $60,000.

Officials say Surenza Tyre Nixon, the passenger inside the car, confessed to having the marijuana. Nixon is now in the Brunswick County Jail under a $5,000 bond.
