Wrightsville Beach Renourishment Expected to Move Forward

FEBRUARY 14, 2006 -- The Army Corps of Engineers is expected to sign a contract by the end of the week with an Illinois dredging company so that work can begin on the Wrightsville Beach renourishment project.

Plans for the project shifted constantly over the past several weeks, as financial issues threatened to stall it or end it all together.

Town Manager Bob Simpson hopes the contract will soon be signed and work can begin on the beach by March 10. Town leaders hope the project can be completed by April.
