FEBRUARY 9, 2006 -- Wilmington Mayor Spence Broadhurst says business is good, traffic is bad and unemployment is virtually non-existent. That's a summary of the mayor's speech Thursday to members of the Wilmington Merchants Association.
Broadhurst says in the year ahead, the city will focus on fixing its aging sewer system, developing the police department's Model Block program and passing the street and park bond issues up for a vote in May. The mayor says many of these projects wouldn't be possible without the contributions of local businesses.
Broadhurst says traffic is Wilmington's most daunting problem.
