Women Compete in Iron Maiden Fencing Tournament

FEBRUARY 4, 2006 -- An all women's fencing tournament in Wilmington attracted competitors from across North and South Carolina.

The Iron Maiden tournament was hosted by the Cape Fear Fencing Association. Awards in foil, epee and saber fighting were given out.

This is the second year the tournament has taken place. Tilia Thompson created the all-women's tournament as part of a Girl Scout project.

Association members say the competition offers a unique opportunity for participants. The Iron Maiden Tournament takes place each spring.
