Duplin Co. Woman Facing Involuntary Manslaughter Charge

JANUARY 20, 2006 -- The wife of a minister in Duplin County is facing charges of involuntary manslaughter.

Joan Fussell is accused of giving a medicinal lollipop to another woman to relieve her pain.

Joan Fussel was prescribed the lollipop after she was diagnosed with cancer. She gave a lollipop to Glenda Lee who later died as a result of the medicine.

The Duplin County Sheriff's Office says Fussell gave the Fentanyl lollipop to Lee. Fussell now faces several charges including involuntary manslaughter.
