Local Charity Helps Soldiers Overseas Stay in Touch

JANUARY 7, 2005 -- A local tax company has joined forces with a charity aimed at the armed forces.

"Cell Phones for Soldiers" is a national program that takes old cell phones and uses them to buy calling cards for soldiers in Iraq.

Employees at Liberty Tax Service set out a box to take phone donations. They have collected hundreds of cell phones over the past year.

Liberty Tax Service Manager Eugene Tiller says "Cell Phones for Soldiers" is charity they are proud to be a part of.

Even if you missed the event on Saturday, you can drop off your phones at Liberty Tax on South College Road. You can also find more information at www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com
