JANUARY 1, 2006 --The first baby born in Wilmington this year took her time making a grand entrance. She wasn't born until 11:30am Sunday.
Morgan Grace Pridgen was introduced to the world Sunday morning, joining big brother Kobe, mom Catherine, father Gary and grandpa Robert Neill.
Hospital representatives say the first baby of the year is usually born right after midnight, but this year was different. At 7 pounds 12 ounces Morgan Grace is beautiful and healthy. Her mother says she's feeling great, too, but didn't expect Morgan to hold such an honor since she was born well after the stroke of midnight.
Morgan Grace and her mother will go home to Calabash Monday morning.
