Investigation Nets Big Heroin Bust

NOVEMBER 30, 2005 -- A local and state investigation has turned up $100,000 worth of heroin in Wilmington.

Early Wednesday morning the Wilmington Police Department and the SBI made one of the biggest heroin busts in the city's history. Police uncovered more than 2,000 bundles of heroin, $500 of petty cash and a 32-automatic.

Police arrested four people for drug trafficking and possession. They are Brandon Valladares, Ricky Lott, Anthony McLain and Evelyn Harrington. One man is still at large.

Overall, authorities say this was a very successful operation. They say the dealers were bringing the drugs in from New York. Police had been tracking the group for some time.
