New Park Coming to Downtown Wilmington

NOVEMBER 15, 2005 -- Wilmington city leaders are announcing new steps to make sure that even as the downtown area grows, grass grows as well.

An organization of downtown businesses says it's getting a $250,000 grant from the federal government. Downtown Wilmington is getting the money for a new park.

The city and county will be involved in determining how to best use the funds. Mayor Spence Broadhurst calls it a good start to more green space.

Riverfront Park is the newest park downtown. That park was built 20 years ago.
